Community Connect | DIY Sauerkraut

Cost: $35(includes a jar of kraut to take home and ferment + instructional booklet)

Join Anastasia Eichorn and explore the art of fermentation through a hands-on sauerkraut workshop! Participants will learn the basic principles of fermentation by harvesting vegetables from the MEarth garden and transforming them into a delicious kraut. We will discuss the fundamentals and history of food preservation and everyone will take home a jar of kraut (to ferment) as well as a simple instructional booklet.

MEarth staff will also be hosting a tour of the property/programs for interested attendees.

Attendees must be at least 12 years old. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. Space is limited to 20 attendees, so be sure to register early to reserve your spot!

Proceeds from these workshops will directly benefit MEarth’s mission of educating + inspiring young people from across Monterey County through environmental stewardship.

 

About Anastasia:

Anastasia Eichorn was raised in a Ukrainian/Dutch farming family where home cooked meals, food preservation, and gathering around the kitchen table were a part of everyday life. She is a Waldorf teacher, homesteader, musician, and outdoor enthusiast based on the Big Sur coast. Anastasia is passionate about bringing the beauty, color, and abundance of the natural world to children and adults alike.
